Penn National Gaming and Barstool Sports quietly launched the 19th online sportsbook in New Jersey, and the operator’s seventh and largest online book. The Barstool Sportsbook was launched under the license of Freehold Raceway, which is jointly owned by Penn National and Greenwood Racing.
The sportsbook was activated under a soft launch that granted access to 500 people. It will be fully active by the start of the NFL season September 9.
New Jersey is one of five states that Penn has designated for launch of an online Barstool Sportsbook by the start of the NFL season. The others are Arizona, Tennessee, Colorado and Virginia. The latter two are already live, and Arizona is expected to launch September 9. Three proposed Tennessee sportsbooks have not yet received approval from the Tennessee Education Lottery.
