The first Barstool-branded sportsbook in the U.S. has begun taking wagers at the Ameristar Black Hawk Casino operated in Colorado by Penn National Gaming.
The facility, on the casinos second floor, includes sports betting kiosks and ticket writing stations that accommodate many betting options. It also sports a betting counter and 24 foot by 12 foot video wall with odds boards.
GM Sean Demeule commented, “Our customers are very excited to start wagering on sports. The passion for professional and college sports runs deep in this region, and we look forward to becoming a destination for fans all year-round.”
This is the first retail sports betting operation to serve the Denver market, according to Penn National CEO Jay Snowden. This will be followed by a Barstool-branded sportsbook app that will premiere early in 2021.
Snowden said, “This will be the first of many new retail locations for Barstool Sportsbooks at our casinos nationwide. The company operates 41 properties all over the U.S.
In January Penn acquired a 36 percent share of Barstool for $163 million. Barstool has about 66 million viewers of its website and social media. It plans to be in every one of the 19 states where Penn operates, once sports wagering is legalized in all those states.
Snowden said, “These locations will serve as virtual sportsbooks in large metropolitan areas in states with approved online sports betting, which we believe will further expand the reach of the Barstool brand and help us acquire new customers at attractive economics.”
Penn will introduce Barstool branded sportsbook around the first of the year at Detroit’s Greektown and Ameristar East Chicago and Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg in Indiana.
