Bay Area Casino to Expand

The Black Oak Casino Resort (l.) in Northern California is adding 5,000 square feet to its footprint, with more gaming space and an enlarged Willow Creek Lounge. The addition will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the casino resort, owned by the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians.

The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians in California’s Bay Area have announced the addition of 5,000 square feet to the Black Oak Casino Resort as part of its 15th anniversary celebration.

The tribe plans to enlarge the Willow Creek Lounge, add more gaming space and an RV park with 100 connections.

The tribe opened the casino in 2001 with the Phase One development of 20,000 SF. Five years that space was replaced by Phase 2, of 170,000 SF, 1,300 slots, 26 gaming tables and three restaurants. It also added the 148-room Hotel at Black Oak Casino Resort.

According to Black Oak CEO Ron Patel, quoted by the Union Democrat, “Generally, the casino building we’re doing at the moment has been open for 10 years now, so it’s time to do some refurbishing and refreshing. The hotel’s been open for three years, so the RV park is a natural addition.”

He added, “There’s as much demand for RV park space as there is for hotel space. If you get a first class RV park, you normally have to book six months in advance to get a space.”

There will also be a new lounge, the Willow Creek bar, a non-smoking addition.

The indoor renovations are expected to be completed in the first part of 2017 according to Black Oak General Manager Aaron Moss, who along with Patel was recently brought on to oversee the operation.

“We’re extremely excited about the expansion of Black Oak Casino Resort combined with the development of the RV Park, which is all part of our vision for the future for this great property,” said Moss. “The combination of the larger space, new facilities and other enhancements will greatly enrich the overall experience of our guests.”
