Bay Mills Resort & Casino Announces $65 Million facelift

Officials at Bay Mills Resort & Casino (BMRC) said the northern Michigan facility is planning on a $65 million renovation next spring. The three-story resort will see more hotel rooms and a host of amenities in an attempt to upgrade the casino, which has been open since 1995.

Currently, there is 17,000 square feet of casino space with 695 slot machines and 13 table games. In addition, there are three restaurants and 144 hotel rooms.

The plan calls for 134 more rooms with balconies. There will also be a deli, a spa with massage therapy rooms, pool with splash pad, hot tubs, nail salon, fitness center, arcade, conference space and a storefront.

The exterior plans include new fishing piers, gardens, gazebos and outdoor patios, as well as marina upgrades.

“Bay Mills Resort & Casino is well loved by its visitors,” said BMRC General Manager Richard LeBlanc. “This expansion will allow us to take things one step further to meet the needs of our guests, while also providing them with a one-of-a-kind experience on Lake Superior.”

The expansion had been discussed for years and finally got approval from the Bay Mills Indian Community. The tribe will begin to accept bids in the winter with the expectation that construction begins in Spring 2023.

BMRC President Whitney Gravelle said the project will bring more excitement to the Brimley, Michigan town.

“Bay Mills Indian Community has long been a leader in Indian Country,” Gravelle said. “Expanding our enterprise operations will allow us to continue to grow and become the number one destination in the Upper Peninsula. I’m so proud of our team and our tribal nation for this achievement.”

Another piece of the casino should be operational by the end of October. DraftKings retail sportsbook will feature betting in a lounge with televisions and in-game wagering.
