Belgium Lowers Gaming Deposit Limit

After allowing Belgium’s mandatory weekly gaming deposit limit to rise during the pandemic, the country’s Council of Ministers are revising safeguards and adding new proposals for the industry submitted by Justice Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne.

Quickenborne’s amendments to the “Royal Decree on Games of Chance and the Protection of Players” (1999) were approved, with the weekly deposit limit of €500 lowered to €200 per week.

The €500 limit was enforced during 2020, when many residents were confined to their homes. The limit will be enforced by the Belgian Gaming Commission and the National Bank of Belgium.
