Bellagio Held Up by Masked Gunman

The robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the Strip resort’s poker cage. But Las Vegas police said last week they didn’t expect him to be at large for long.

A gunman wearing a mask, wig and glasses robbed the poker cage at Bellagio Las Vegas last Tuesday and escaped by car with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbery, captured on surveillance video, took place shortly before 4 in the afternoon, according to police, who said the man showed cashiers a small-frame black handgun. He was handed the money without incident, police said, and no injuries were reported.

Police were questioning a person they said the robber may have brought to the casino against their will. The individual was cooperating with authorities, according to press reports, which said police were “comfortable and confident” they had enough information to capture the suspect.

“Those who commit crimes like this on the Strip will be hunted down and whatever amount of cash he got is not enough to face a lifetime in prison,” said Las Vegas Metro Police Captain John Pelletier.
