Denise Coates, cofounder and CEO of UK-based online gaming firm Bet365, earned $363 million plus dividends last year, making her the highest paid chief executive of a British company in 2018.
According to Forbes, Coates’ salary “has broken all records for executive pay in the United Kingdom with her remuneration smashing her own previous records of $347 million in 2017 and $284 million in 2016,” and sparked controversy about excessive executive compensation. Her total pay last year came to almost $424 million, and she’s earned more than $1 billion in the past three years alone.
Coates cofounded Bet365 with her brother John in 2000.
