The Betclic-Everest Group has received Portugal’s second online casino gambling license.
The country previously granted an online license to local firm Estoril Sol Digital Online Gaming Products and Services while Betclic-Everest Group had earlier been licensed along with Malta-based Bet Entertainment Technologies Limited for the operation of a sportsbook via the Internet in Portugal.
The country, however, has yet to issue an online poker license despite legalizing online poker earlier this year. Online poker has reportedly been delayed while the country’s government tries to work out liquidity-sharing legislation.
Any proposed liquidity-sharing rules Portuguese legislators send to the European Commission will be subject to a comment period that could last for up to four months and online poker isn’t likely to start in the country before the summer of 2017.
