Betfred Arrives in Las Vegas

Betfred USA Sports has opened the first of what the company hope will be multiple sportsbooks in Las Vegas. Betfred will manage the sportsbook at Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels, the former Hard Rock Las Vegas. The venue should be ready to roll by the end of the year.

U.K.-based Betfred will manage the sportsbook for Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels, Las Vegas. The deal marks the first in Las Vegas for Betfred USA Sports, but not the first in the U.S. The company operates sportsbooks in Colorado, Iowa and Pennsylvania.

“There is so much opportunity in Nevada,” said Betfred USA Chief Operating Officer Bryan Bennett. “A location like this property, just off the Strip, allows us to announce our presence to a great market. It’s a small casino and we’ll have a small portion of it, but our book will stand out.”

Betfred has already applied for a Nevada gaming license, according to Howard Stutz, of CDC Gaming Reports.

The former home of Hard Rock Las Vegas closed in February for a makeover slated for completion by year’s end.

Among the highlights of the sportsbook: luxury seating, a state-of-the-art video wall, and over-the-counter wagering, as well as self-serve kiosks.

Betfred will also operate a mobile gaming platform for Mohegan Sun.

The Las Vegas location, however, is the reason Betfred Group established its U.S. subsidiary.

“This is a tremendous partnership with Mohegan and Virgin,” Bennett said.
