The Irish Independent reports that Betfred has won the bidding for 360 betting shops being sold off in the UK as a result of the Ladbrokes and Gala Coral merger.
No information on the winning bid was available, but it has apparently topped a £102m bid by BoyleSports for the shops that was previously reported.
Betfred, however, has been considered by analysts to be the frontrunner in the bidding which also included William Hill as a possible contender.
The UK Competition and Markets Authority ordered the shops to be sold as part of the Ladbrokes and Gala Coral merger to protect competition in the industry.
