U.S.-based online casino and sportsbook BetMGM has agreed to integrate the responsible gaming program GameSense developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corp. (BCLC) into its own sports betting and iGaming platforms. It’s the first time a stateside iGaming operator has agreed to use the Canadian program, though MGM Resorts International has been using GameSense in its brick-and-mortar casinos since 2017.
According to MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle, “Together, MGM Resorts and BetMGM are proud to help guests understand the risks, where to get help, and ultimately, how to keep gaming fun.”
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a statement: “GameSense presents a forward-thinking approach to responsible gambling. We look forward to empowering our players with a proven program, designed to help support a positive gambling experience.”
BCLC Interim CEO and President Lynda Cavanaugh added, “BCLC’s commitment to player health extends well beyond British Columbia and we look forward to working with BetMGM to increase our mutual understanding about how best to provide players with the tools that enhance positive-play decisions.”
The program helps players make informed decisions about gambling responsibly and puts them in touch with trained specialists who can help them address problem gambling issues.
