MGM Resorts is expanding BetMGM into the international arena, starting with online gaming and sports betting in the U.K., Legal Sports Report noted August 20. Its main competition will be Entain.
BetMGM went live August 17 on the LeoVegas platform, which MGM acquired in 2022. MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle announced, “Today’s announcement represents a key step forward in our international growth strategy, which has been advancing rapidly since our acquisition of LeoVegas.”
The U.K. sports betting market is considered the most mature that MGM has competed in so far.
Hornbuckle said, “[W]e believe the BetMGM brand will provide distinct relevance to both sports bettors and iGaming consumers.”
