The new board of directors of Betsson AB has withdrawn a previous decision to replace company CEO Pontus Lindwall.
Board Chairman Johan Lundberg said. “We have had several discussions with Betsson’s main stakeholders, management team, employees as well as many of the largest shareholders. Based on those discussions, the current board does not believe that it would be good to change leadership now.”
The original decision to replace Lindwall was announced September 19, just before Betsson’s decision to stop accepting Dutch customers on its international websites. Its objective is to operate as a licensed provider under the legal Dutch regime. The iGaming provider also hopes to launch sports betting in the U.S. in 2022.
“The company need to focus on all important work that lays ahead, such as for example the unexpected Dutch situation,” added Lundberg.
