Malta-based Betway, a longtime presence in European sports betting and iGaming markets, officially became the 13th online sportsbook in Pennsylvania, as well as the state’s 17th internet casino site, following a three-day test period last week.
The operator secured its licensing approval May 19, but has not publicly announced which casino it will be linked with. In Pennsylvania, iGaming sites must be linked to one of the land-based casino licensees. However, in an interview with the Penn Bets news site, Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board spokesman Doug Harbach said the company is under an agreement with the Live! Philadelphia casino, owned by the Cordish Gaming Group.
Betway USA is part of Digital Gaming Corp., based in Hoboken, New Jersey, as the U.S. version of a brand whose roots in Europe go back to 2006.
