Sheldon Adelson (l.), the chairman of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. made Forbes’ billionaires list for the first time in seven years. His net worth is now about $38 billion.

Report: Adelson made million a day last year

Sheldon Adelson, chairman of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., is back on Forbes’ List of the World’s Billionaires. Adelson joins No. 1 Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Mexican telecom giant Carlos Slim Helu, Spanish clothing retailer Amancio Ortega, and investor Warren Buffett.

The 80-year-old casino magnate has not made the platinum list since 2007, according to Casino City Times. He was pushed up by an $11.5 billion rise in his net worth, valued at $38 billion in 2013. Adelson owns 53 percent of the Las Vegas Sands Corp, which operates casinos in Las Vegas, Macau, Singapore and Pennsylvania.

According to Forbes, Adelson earned $32 million a day last year.

The gaming industry was well-represented on the list. Kirk Kerkorian, founder of the company that became MGM Resorts International, came in at No. 328 with a net worth of $4.5 billion.

Wynn Resorts Chairman Steve Wynn was No. 396 with a net worth of $3.8 billion. His ex-wife, Elaine Wynn, also made the list, ranking 642 with a net worth of $2.7 billion.

Other lucky listmakers were Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, who operate Station Casinos and the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Lui Che Woo, chairman of Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment.
