Black Hawk’s Monarch Topped Out

The top beam recently was placed by PCL Construction at the 23-story Monarch Hotel and Casino (l.) in Black Hawk, Colorado. The former Riviera Black Hawk Casino was purchased by Reno-based Monarch Casino & Resort Inc. in 2012. The project, scheduled for August completion, will include a casino, dining, hotel, lounges and top-floor spa and pools.

Black Hawk’s Monarch Topped Out

PCL Construction recently placed the final beam atop the 23-story Monarch Hotel and Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado. The project is expected to be completed in August. Reno-based Monarch Casino & Resort Inc. bought the former Riviera Black Hawk Casino in 2012.

The five lower levels of the hotel tower will include casino gambling, restaurants, hotel administration and lounges. Levels six and above will include hotel rooms and suites, with a spa, pools and recreation areas on the top floor.

The majority of the state’s casinos are located in Black Hawk. PCL worked on four of them, including the Monarch, the Lodge Hotel and Casino, Black Hawk Casino by Hyatt and the Gilpin Hotel Casino.
