Blackhurst Named to LVGEA Board

Las Vegas’s first female mayor has been named to the board of directors of Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance. Jan Jones-Blackhurst (l.) promises to raise the standards for businesses in Southern Nevada.

Former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones-Blackhurst has been named to the board of directors of Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA.)

Blackhurst, who currently is an executive with Caesars Entertainment, was unanimously voted onto the board, whose membership includes public, private, community and business leaders whose goal is expanding the economy of Southern Nevada.

She greeted the appointment with this statement: “The LVGEA is the region’s leading organization focused on raising the standards for businesses and our residents, which is why I’m honored to join their board of directors,” adding, “Communities grow when there are good jobs, and I look forward to working with the LVGEA to support their vision and the continued growth of our economy.”

LVGEA President and CEO Jonas Peterson stated “We are absolutely thrilled to have Jan Jones-Blackhurst join our Board of Directors. Jan is an influential champion for Southern Nevada and a highly respected leader within the gaming and hospitality industry. She brings a wealth of insight and experience to our team.”

Jones-Blackhurst served as the city’s first female mayor from 1991-1999. After leaving that post she joined Caesars Entertainment where she worked to create a diverse and inclusive workplace. She helped create the industry’s first Responsible Gaming practices and to introduce an industry code of commitment.
