BMM Study: Slots Must Be Interactive

A white paper released by gaming testing company BMM Testlabs says slot machines must become more interactive to attract the younger player demographic.

A new white paper released by international gaming testing company BMM Testlabs says the industry must produce more interactive slot products to attract and retain the next generation of players.

“The industry can no longer merely hope that casino floors will attract and retain tomorrow’s patrons,” said the paper, written by Robin Bernhard, BMM senior manager for marketing and education.

The paper says slot machines must move to skill-based challenges, and should bring activities like esports, stadium-style electronic table games and sports betting to the gaming floor. It also calls for adding biometric identification that could allow cashless gaming, including new forms of currency such as virtual currencies like bitcoin, according to a report in GGRAsia.

BMM’s white paper adds that with micro-climate air cleaning technology available, it could soon be possible to introduce localized climate control in each slot machine, thus allowing gamblers to smoke without secondhand smoke reaching other players.
