Board Grants Biloxi Pointe Tax Abatement

The proposed Biloxi Pointe Resort and Casino moved a step forward as the Harrison County, Mississippi board of supervisors granted developers a $7 million tax abatement for its share of the $20 Back Bay Loop connector road, which would link all Biloxi casino properties and provide Biloxi Pointe with access.

Recently the board of supervisors in Harrison County, Mississippi’ voted to grant the developers of Biloxi Pointe Resort and Casino a tax abatement for million the developers plan to invest in the proposed million Back Bay Loop, which would connect all casino properties and provide access for Biloxi Pointe. The state has committed million to the connector loop.

Biloxi Pointe developer Bill Kilduff said, “It would connect our property with Golden Nugget, Imperial Palace and Beau Rivage. It creates a loop around the city.” Developer Chris Ferrara added, “We were asking to parallel with Biloxi. The city has passed a council resolution to issue a tax abatement. We’re looking for a seven-year abatement with our $7 million for the new roadway.”

The county board also heard more details about the proposed development to be located in the former Heinz plant. The 37-acre project in East Biloxi’s Back Bay would connect to the Boardwalk Marina and feature a 781,000 square foot casino resort. The Mississippi Gaming Commission has approved the proposal.

Ferrara said the property would offer a 500-room hotel and 700,000 square feet of convention and meeting space. “That would be the largest on the Coast, second only to the Coliseum. It’s all about bringing events, entertainment and meeting space to the Gulf Coast,” he said.
