Bookmakers Paddy Power, William Hill and Ladbrokes have told the Northern Ireland Assembly that they will voluntarily reduce wagering on fixed-odds-betting-terminals to a £2 limit.
The cuts are scheduled to go into effect in the UK on April 1 and the bookmakers said they will meet that date ion Northern Ireland.
Northern Ireland’s regulatory code has not been updated to include the FOBT cuts and the bookmakers did not legally have to follow UK government sanctioned Gambling Act legislation on FOBTs reductions.
However, Ladbrokes announced in November it would make the cuts at all its UK shops and is now being followed by Paddy Power and William Hill.
