Boyd Gaming to Sell Nevada Casino

The Eldorado, a slots-only locals venue, is one of three casinos in Boyd’s Southern Nevada portfolio that never reopened after the pandemic lockdown ended. Now it’s going to the company’s Henderson rival, DeSimone Gaming, owner of the Railroad Pass, for an undisclosed sum.

Boyd Gaming to Sell Nevada Casino

Boyd Gaming is selling the Eldorado Casino in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson to DeSimone Gaming, operator of the city’s Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino, near Boulder City.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, according to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The Eldorado, a slots-only locals spot featuring restaurants, a sports book and 17,000 square feet of gaming space, is one of three Boyd casinos in Southern Nevada that never reopened when the state’s casino lockdown ended in early June.

Commenting on the sale, a Boyd spokesman characterized it as a “non-core asset” representing a “very modest part of our overall business.”

“It’s not a complete, full-service property like every other property they own,” industry consultant Josh Swissman told the Review-Journal. “They’re probably realizing that they’re able to retain and maintain a good portion of their data base and gaming revenue (without) those shuttered properties from other properties around town that are open.”

Boyd has not said when it will open the other two shuttered properties, Main Street Station in Downtown Las Vegas and Eastside Cannery on the Boulder Strip.
