Brazil Could Legalize Gaming by December

Davi Alcolumbre, the former president of Brazil’s Senate and the rapporteur of Bill 442/91 that would legalize gaming in the country, says the Senate could approve it by December. The Chamber of Deputies (the House) previously approved the bill in February of this year.

Brazil’s lawmakers have postponed voting on the controversial bill until after the October national elections.

According to reporter Leandro Mazzini writing in Coluna Esplanada, Brazil’s President Bolsonaro has said he would veto the bill in order to please evangelicals. But after the election he will allow the bill to become law.

The law would legalize casinos, bingo, jogo do bicho and online gaming.
