The Brazilian Ministry of Finance has published Ordinance No. 722 which details technical and security requirements for online wagering operations, Yogonet reported May 8. It also established requirements for sports betting platforms.
The 35-page ordinance was signed into law by the new Secretary of Prizes and Betting Regis Dudena.
The ordinance requires operators to guarantee that data is protected and to keep that data in centers located in Brazil or in nations that have an International Judicial Cooperation Agreement with the country.
The operator is required to replicate its database and information in Brazil and constantly update it. The operator is also required to have an approved Business Continuity Plan for Information Technology in case its data is ever threatened.
Betting systems must be certified by an entity recognized by the Prizes and Betting Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Operators must also submit dates related to wagers, bettors, bettor wallets and other information to the Secretariat.
