The Phoenix International Club in Bac Ninh, Vietnam has apparently reopened and is conducting “business as usual,” including the offering of table games that were banned earlier this month.
According to Asia Gaming Brief, former operator Silver Heritage Group ceased providing its services to the club earlier this month after receiving notice from its general manager that table games were no longer permitted to operate on the property.
However, the casino reopened March 15 without Silver Heritage’s involvement, reportedly still providing table games and electronic gaming machines. That doesn’t square with information from the Ministry of Finance; a spokesman said table games are still not permitted, and by decree from the prime minister live dealers are permitted only at integrated resorts, not five-star hotels.
According to AGB, the issue has also raised questions about the fate of six other regional casinos in Vietnam, including the Do Son in Haiphong, Donaco at Lao Cai, Royal in Halong Bay, the casinos in Mon Cai and Crown in Da Nang.
