Bwin.party Pulls Facebook Game

Bwin.party will pull its Sportster social betting game off Facebook. The move comes after bwin announced it is seeking to sell its social gaming development studio.

Just four months after it launched, bwin.party will withdraw its joint venture social betting game Sportster ‘betandwin’ from Facebook.

Developed with games publisher Nordeus, bwin.party says the game will shut down at the end of January.

Launched in September, the social betting game was also developed using bwin’s social gaming development studio Win. The closure comes weeks after bwin.party announced that it was in active discussions to sell Win development studios and was backing off a planned €50 million investment in the social gaming developer.

The closing is another failure for sports betting games on Facebook. Last month Paddy Power pulled its real money Facebook app after the product failed to reach company expectations.
