Four Caesars Entertainment resorts on the Las Vegas Strip have raised their nightly fees on hotel rooms. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the Linq, Harrah’s Las Vegas, the Flamingo and Bally’s upped the charge by $2 to $37 a night, not counting taxes.
A Caesars spokesman said the increase “brings these properties in line with their competitive set, such as MGM Grand and the Mirage,” which charge $39 per night before taxes.
The fees, which cover amenities like wifi, newspapers, local phone calls and access to fitness facilities, were largely initiated in Las Vegas over the last decade and have since been adopted at hotels nationwide, angering many consumers in the process.
“I think people are upset, and people want to see an end to these fees, so it’s really disappointing to see these hotels go in the opposite direction,” said Lauren Wolfe, an attorney for a group called Travelers United, which is lobbying for passage of a bill in Congress requiring hotels to be more transparent in disclosing the fees.
The four Caesars properties implementing the increases are at the center of what’s expected to be an extremely busy corridor in late April, when the 2020 NFL Draft is staged near the Linq Promenade and the soon-to-open Caesars Forum convention center.
The main stage for the draft will be located just east of the Linq’s High Roller observation wheel and near Caesars Forum.
