The Arizona Diamondbacks are in fourth place in their division, seven games behind a wild card spot—but no matter. The team has a new two-story Caesars Sportsbook across the plaza from the main entrance to Chase Field in downtown Phoenix, according to the Arizona Republic.
The 22,300 square foot site is the largest retail operation in partnership with a sports stadium in the country. Until the June 21 opening, bettors could place a wager in person near the ticket windows on the Fourth Street side of the ballpark.
The sportsbook occupies the site that once housed the Game Seven Grill. Inside, fans have nine betting windows and 13 self-service betting kiosks. It also has a full-service restaurant, Guy Fieri’s DTPHX Kitchen + Bar. There is seating on both floors and private space to rent, and there are large flat-screen TVs throughout the property.
“We finally got to this day,” Diamondbacks President & CEO Derrick Hall said. “This is going to be quite the place every day. Open every day of the week, it’s going to be open until 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, until 1:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday.”
Caesars made a $20,000 donation to the Diamondbacks Foundation as part of the opening ceremony. Fieri delivered a welcome message via video.
“You get a passionate fan base for sports, you get a location like this, which is not only connected to the stadium, but you’ve got the (Footprint Center) arena next door, the convention center, it’s become a really vibrant area the last few years and post-COVID even more so. This gives people a place to come and watch games, put a little something down on the games, you’ve got amazing food,” said David Grolman, senior vice president of operations for Caesars Sportsbook.
