Sky River Casino in Elk Grove, California has announced the appointment of Timothy Albright as its first director of government and community relations. The casino, now being built by the Wilton Rancheria Tribe and Boyd Gaming, is expected to open this fall. The project will include 100,000 square feet of gaming space with 2,000 slot machines, 80-plus table games and a variety of restaurants and bars.
Albright was a founding member of the Elk Grove Police Department in 2006, and retired as chief in January.
“Timothy’s relationships and deep personal connection to the Elk Grove community will be instrumental in the continued development of the partnership with the city in creating an economic driver for the region,” said Chris Gibase, project lead for Wilton Rancheria Tribe and Boyd Gaming Corp. “His tenured experience from launching the Elk Grove Police Department, to lecturing at California State University Sacramento, to his numerous roles in local and state-level government programs make him the ideal candidate to lead these efforts for our organization.”
“After a career in public service, I’m looking forward to learning more about the entertainment and hospitality industries with the Sky River team, and the innovative approach to guest service it brings,” said Albright. “I’m thrilled to once again build something from scratch that provides a strong benefit to the Elk Grove community.”
As director of government and community relations, Albright will be responsible for building and managing relationships with local, regional and state leadership, key internal and external stakeholders, and law enforcement and emergency response officials.
Albright announced his retirement from the Elk Grove Police Department in January of 2022.
