California Casino Celebrates 20 Years

Soboba Casino (l.), which started off as a modest bingo hall, and now prospers near San Jacinto, California by appealing to the locals market, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

This year the Soboba Casino is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the casino, which is located near San Jacinto, California.

The casino, operated by the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians Reservation, opened initially as a bingo hall called Legends Casino at Soboba. It has always seen itself as a locals resort, in contrast to neighboring casinos, such as Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, which by design market themselves as Las Vegas alternatives.

According to Director of Marketing Michael Broderick, quoted by the Press Enterprise, “We’re after that discretionary dollar. It’s another source of entertainment.”

Today the casino has 2,000 slot machines and 22 gaming tables. It has expanded several times since opening in 1995.
