The opening of the Cahuilla Casino Hotel in Anza, California, originally scheduled for April 2 has been delayed until further notice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The announcement was posted on Cahuilla Casino’s Facebook page on April 1: “Based on recent updates regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, in an effort to continue to protect the health and safety of our guests, team members and our community the Cahuilla Band of Indians has decided to postpone the opening of the new Cahuilla Casino Hotel that was originally scheduled for April 2, 2020 until further notice.”
In an email, Melissa Asmus, director of operations, said the new opening date would not be announced “until we have a clearer picture” about the recovery of the gaming industry.
The Cahuilla Band broke ground on the casino 18 months ago. The $35.2 million project will have a 14,000 square foot gaming floor with 353 slots and four gaming tables. The four story hotel will have 58 rooms, a restaurant and outdoor event space.
