California Group Asks to Review Gaming Agreement

Stand Up for California, a casino watchdog organization, has asked the Trump administration to withdraw an agreement between the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe and the city of Ridgecrest.

The casino watchdog group Stand Up for California has asked the Trump administration to “review, reconsider and withdraw” an agreement between the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe and the city of Ridgecrest.

Timbisha Tribal Chairman George Gholson claims Stand Up has not connection to anyone in Ridgecrest or the region.

He told the Ridgecrest Daily Independent: “It’s sad someone from another city can come in and stop a casino. I wonder what the voters think about an outside entity taking away jobs and money from the city?”

Stand Up has opposed many Indian casino projects up and down the state almost since Indian gaming began in the Golden State. Gholson claimed that Stand Up is funded by rival gaming tribes and “Wall Street” interests.
