California Management Compact Approved by NIGC

The National Indian Gaming Commission October 31 gave the stamp of approval of the management contract by Boyd Gaming for the Wilton Rancheria. The tribe plans to build a $400 million casino resort in Elk Grove, about 20 miles from Sacramento, California.

The seven year management contract between the Wilton Rancheria of Northern California and Boyd Gaming was approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission on October 31.

The tribe plans a casino in Elk Grove on 36 acres that was put into trust in 2017 by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Last year the legislature approved a Class III tribal state gaming compact that will allow the tribe to build a $400 million casino resort about 20 miles from the state capital of Sacramento.

Financing still needs to be secured for the project. A groundbreaking has not yet been announced.
