Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City, which aims at an opening before the end of the year, seeks to fill more than 500 positions in the next few weeks. It will hold a job fair July 27.

The casino seeks to fill positions in food and beverage, table games, slots, marketing and security.

The job fair will employ social distancing and require masks and temperature screenings for applicants.

The casino, in the middle of downtown Cathedral City, will be the third for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, who also operate properties in Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs.

It will have 500 slot machines, eight table games in 30,000 square feet of gaming space. It will be able to host outdoor events in a pavilion. It will have a sports bar, a casual upscale restaurant, and a coffee shop offering light fare.

The tribe recently purchased the land and the Bureau of Indian Affairs approved it being put into trust. Groundbreaking was last November and construction continued, even during the pandemic shutdowns of the last few months.

Agua Caliente Casinos Chief Operating Officer Saverio Scheri told subcontractors in a video posted on Facebook, “We drive by the site all the time, and the amount of progress you’re making in such a short amount of time is truly amazing.”

The tribe hopes to use the revenue to develop a tribal court system, create a tax commission and address homelessness on the reservation.
