California Tribe Proposes Casino Resort

Sacramento, California, would get one of its largest Indian casinos ever if the Wilton Rancheria gets permission for its Twin Cities Casino Resort. The tribe released the environmental impact for the casino last week.

The 70-member Wilton Rancheria has proposed a casino resort, called the Wilton Resort that would include a 12-story casino tower and hotel complex north of the community of Galt.

The plans for the Twin Cities Casino Resort on 282 acres, surfaced after the release of a draft environment impact study.

The hotel would have 302 rooms, a 2,900-foot retail area, fitness center, spa and convention center, while the casino would have 2,000 slots and 84 gaming tables, making it one of the largest casinos and convention venues in the Sacramento area, rivaling the Thunder Valley Casino and Resort.

Comments will be accepted on the proposal until January 29.

Tribal leaders predict that it will take many years for the project to be approved.

The project would require major freeway work, including a new interchange on State Highway 99.
