The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which opened in 2019 near Sacramento, California, is planning a $65 million expansion that will include a 2,500-seat events center, a large gas station, a convenience store and a smoke shop. All are planned to open in May of 2022.
The casino resort is a partnership between Hard Rock and the Enterprise Rancheria.
Despite the pandemic, the resort served 2 million patrons in 2020 and employed hundreds. It anticipates that the new project will create as many as 450 jobs—250 in construction and 200 full-time and part-time resort jobs.
Hard Rock President Mark Birtha explained that the project is part of a “20-year vision here with multiple phases.”
He added, “The only reason we’re able to do this expansion phase is because our employees worked so hard the last year and have done a great job bringing authentic experiences that our guests love.”
The 65,000-square-foot event center will become the top entertainment venue in Northern California, according to Birtha. It will be poised to host small and large events from concerts to MMA battles.
“We’re going to … continue to reinvest in the property and to grow it to the benefit of everybody, truly everybody, in the overall community—from hiring to economic investment to building to tourism,” he said.
