Call of Duty to Launch Amateur eSports League

Call of Duty will launch a new amateur eSports league that could be a stepping stone to professional eSports leagues.

Call of Duty, owned by Activision, has announced it will create an amateur Challenge division for eSports that could help players reach its professional eSports league.

The new Challenge division will be a tier below the game’s Pro Division, according to SBC news. Players will have opportunities to qualify for the professional league in the amateur division, the company announced.

This amateur division, which will be part of the game’s World League, gives amateur teams the chance to compete for cash prizes, and should they do well they’ll have the chance take on pros from across the world in the Call of Duty Championship. This championship consists of teams from North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific and has a prize pool of $1 million, according to SBC.
