Cambodia’s Star Vegas to Open Poker King Club

Cambodian casino resort Star Vegas Resort and Club, owned by Australia-listed Donaco International Ltd., will open a Poker King Club at the Poipet property this month.

First poker tour July 1-7

Two years after Australia-listed Donaco International Ltd. bought the Star Vegas Resort and Club in Poipet, Cambodia, the property plans to open a new poker room under the Poker King Club brand. According to GGRAsia, the poker room will open this month.

Donaco CEO and Managing Director Joey Lim Keong Yew, a member of the family that founded Malaysian gaming giant Genting Bhd., hailed the opening as an “exciting event for our players in Thailand and across Asia. Star Vegas is a top quality venue for international players, and we look forward to bringing a top-tier poker tournament to Poipet.” Ninety percent of Star Vegas patrons—some 5,000 people per day—cross the border from Thailand.

In a May 1 press release, Donaco said it had signed a three-year deal with Kings Consulting Ltd, under which Star Vegas would host a minimum of three international poker tournaments. The first is the 2017 Asian Poker Tour, July 1-7 at Star Vegas.
