Campione d’Italia Casino May Reopen Before 2022

Campione d’Italia Casino May Reopen Before 2022

Campione d’Italia Casino wants to reopen by the end of the year, but its owners can’t guarantee that will happen.

Campione d’Italia is an enclave of Italy completely surrounded by Switzerland. Efforts to reopen include meetings between trade unions, casino owners and the delegate judge of the Court of Como.

Casino CEO Marco Ambrosini recently told the news site Gioconews, “Unfortunately, it is not yet possible at the moment to confirm a date. Of course, there was and remains the hope that it will be possible as soon as possible. The problems are many and the company is making every effort in its faculties to face and solve them.”

One big obstacle is the need to hire 174 people by the end of October. Almost 500 employees were dismissed in 2018 when the casino declared bankruptcy. The workers’ trade union is demanding that as many as possible be rehired.
