Former Canadian Liberal MP Rak Grewal, who several months ago admitted to a gambling addiction and large debt in the millions, said last week he will stay in parliament, despite resigning from the Liberal party and becoming an independent.

The MP announced in November that he would be taking leave. He promised to later make a decision about his future. Two months later Grewal went on Facebook to say he had paid off his debts from family and friends.
