Ciaran Carruthers, former senior executive with Macau casino operator Sands China Ltd., has been tapped for the role of chief operating officer at rival Wynn Macau. He will serve at the flagship peninsula property, reports GGRAsia.
Before his role as senior vice president for property operations at Sands China, Carruthers was president and chief executive of Asia Pacific Gaming Consultancy Macau Ltd., which offers research and consultancy services to the casino industry in the Asia Pacific region.
Carruthers had also been a senior executive with Macau casino company Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd.
He started at Wynn Macau Ltd effective January 9. “Mr. Carruthers will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our peninsula property and reports to Ian Michael Coughlan, president of Wynn Macau Ltd.,” Wynn Macau confirmed in a note.
According to GGRAsia, Carruthers’ arrival will enable Coughlan to focus on ramping up revenues at the new US$4.4 billion Wynn Palace resort on the Cotai Strip. Coughlan was named president of Wynn Macau Ltd in September last year, following the resignation of Gamal Abdelaziz as president and executive director of the company.
