Case Underway in $6.9 Million Hard Rock Suit

A $6.9 million casino mismanagement suit filed by the owners of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (l.) in Stateline, Nevada, against defendants Warner Hospitality of Las Vegas and W-G Stateline, got underway October 19 in Nevada. Casino owners Jon and David Parks say they were overbilled for renovation work, and mismanagement halted progress on adjacent hotel towers.

The owner of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Stateline, Nevada, had their first day in court after accusing a former management company of bilking the casino of .9 million.

Court proceedings got underway in Washoe District Court on October 19 to address accusations that Warner Hospitality of Las Vegas and W-G Stateline mismanaged the property and overcharged the Hard Rock for hotel and casino renovation, management, maintenance, and other services.

The renovated casino opened in January, but the planned opening of hotel towers was halted after subcontractor SMC Construction filed an $18.9 million lien against the property for work it had done but for which it was not paid.

The casino’s owners, Jon and David Park, eventually terminated management agreements with Warner Hospitality and W-G Stateline.

The Parks said they will take a more hands-on approach to running the casino while searching for another management company.

The prior mismanagement resulted in numerous customer complaints and general dissatisfaction that the Parks want to change with a new management team.
