Casino Gangster’s Estate Goes on Sale

A large estate once owned by Herbert “The Cat” Noble, a mob figure prominent in the early days of Las Vegas casinos during the Depression and later, has gone on the market for $3.7 million.

The palatial Grape Lake, Texas estate built by a notorious gangster and casino owner of the 1930s and 1940s, Herbert “The Cat” Noble has gone on the real estate market for $3.7 million.

Noble survived 11 assassination attempts that he attributed to the equally notorious Las Vegas casino owner Benny Binion as part of their longtime and extremely bloody feud. The final attempt succeeded in 1951 as Noble drove up to his mailbox and a bomb exploded.

The adventures of Noble and Binion are chronicled in the 2015 book, “Blood Aces: The Wild Ride of Benny Binion.”
