Casino Jai Alai to Open in 2017

SJM Holdings’ Casino Jai Alai will not open until early 2017, the company has announced. The Macau casino, which closed for renovations in 2013, had been expected to reopen by the end of the year.

Casino Jai Alai in Macau, owned by SJM Holdings Ltd., has pushed back its grand reopening to early 2017, reports the Asia Gaming Brief. The casino, which closed for renovations in 2013, will have 130 hotel rooms and “about 30 to 40” mass gaming tables, according to a November announcement by SJM Holdings Executive Director, Angela Leong.

Last week, SJM Chief Executive Ambrose told Macau TDM, “It’s hard to determine an exact date. We will surely finish the construction works within this year. But we also wish the government could cooperate to speed up the approval, licensing and inspection procedures.”
