Casino Miami’s Crystal Card Room Shuttered

South Florida cardrooms continue to dwindle with the April shuttering of Casino Miami's Crystal Card Room, which only opened three days a week with tables rarely available before 6 p.m. Magic City and Hialeah Park, with lucrative cardrooms, are located less than three miles away.

The latest card room to close in South Florida is the Crystal Card Room at Casino Miami, which was shuttered in April. The struggling operation only was open Friday, Saturday and Sunday and frequently did not open a table before 6 p.m. Typically just one or two tables were available.

Casino Miami management said the Crystal Card Room might reopen, but did not predict when. Magic City and Hialeah Park, which posted revenue of $700,000 each in March, are located within three miles .

Just four years ago, South Florida offered 13 land-based poker rooms in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Today the area offers only 10 brick-and-mortar cardrooms.
