Casino Opens in Vegas

The Cromwell, the newest property on the Las Vegas Strip, has opened its 40,000-square-foot casino floor. Caesars Entertainment’s renovated resort was built at the site of the former Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall. The casino has 434 slot machines, 66 table games, and a 188-room hotel.

5 million overhaul

Caesars Entertainment Corp. has opened the casino floor at its newest resort, the Cromwell on the Strip in Las Vegas Boulevard.

The 12-story boutique resort features 40,000 square feet of gaming space, plus a rooftop pool, Drai’s day and nightclubs, and Giada De Laurentiis’ eponymous first restaurant, Giada. The clubs, restaurants and hotel are expected to open Memorial Day Weekend.

Originally planned as a Gansevoort-branded hotel, the property was renamed the Cromwell after a Gansevoort investor was linked to Russian organized crime. That alleged association cost Caesars its chance to win a gaming license in Massachusetts, even though Gansevoort was only being licensed as a brand and had no equity or operational role in the hotel.

In addition to the casino, the Interlude cocktail lounge and the Curios retail shop are now open for business, reported the Associated Press. When the property officially opens May 21, room rates will start at $249 a night.
