Casino, Racetrack Simulcasting Rates Negotiable in New Jersey

Atlantic City casinos and racetracks now can negotiate the rates for simulcasting, thanks to a measure recently signed into law by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Previously, simulcasting fees were capped.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie recently signed into law a bill allowing Atlantic City casinos to negotiate with horse racetracks the cost of simulcast transmissions. Previously, casinos simulcasting rates were capped.

One of the bill’s sponsors, Assemblyman Ron Dancer, said if Christie had not signed the bill, the Borgata would have lost the signal for races out of Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. The Borgata is the last remaining simulcasting facility in Atlantic City, Dancer noted.
