Casino Taipa Reopens in Macau

Macau “Big Six” gaming operator SJM Holdings has reopened its Casino Taipa in the Regency Art Hotel last week for the first time in eight years. The casino has just five gaming tables and a mix of slots and ETGs.

Casino Taipa has reopened in Macau after an eight-year hiatus. The small casino with just five gaming tables and 112 electronic gaming seats opened in 1987 and closed in 2008. According to CalvinAyre.com. SJM may have reactivated a suspended casino license at the site inside the Regency Art Hotel.

“We believe there is a framework for a gaming license to sit dormant for some period of time,” said Union Gaming analyst Grant Govertsen. “For example, SJM’s third-party promoted Greek Mythology casino also seems to be in a similar state today with the potential to reopen in the future.”
