Casino Union Workers Strengthen Negotiators’ Hands in Ontario

The Unifor union of Casino Rama in Ontario has been authorized by its members to go on strike if it can’t reach an agreement with Gateway Casinos. The vote to strike was 95 percent in favor.

Union workers at the Casino Rama have voted to give negotiators for the Unifor a strong hand in dealing with Gateway Casinos, which operates the facility in Orillia, Ontario.

Last week they voted by a 95 percent margin to give the union authority to go on strike, although Unifor says that will be a last resort. The union represents more than 1,400 slot workers, cashiers, dealers and food and beverage staff.
