Casino Woodbine Worker Claims No Pay in Six Weeks

An anonymous poster on social media tells a strange story about the Casino Woodbine in Ontario. The tale involves getting six weeks of work out of part-time workers and allegedly paying them nothing.

A worker at the Casino Woodbine in Ontario has created an anonymous Reddit account to claim that he has been working for six weeks without pay and that a promised full-time job is only part-time.

The anonymous poster claims he got a job as a dealer after attending a job fair and came in for a five week training course. He discovered that the job was part-time, not the full-time position he had applied for.

He was told that everyone would be working overtime, so it would be the equivalent of a full-time position. He accepted the job, only to be told that the first two weeks of training would be unpaid, but that he would get a bonus after another two weeks.

Upon questioning others in the training class, the poster allegedly discovered that all 50 were part timers. All had been given the same story about getting overtime. The employee says that after six weeks no one has been paid as they wait for their licenses to be issued.

The story, written by reporter Casey Aonso of Narcity, doesn’t say whether the casino has been contacted to respond to the allegations.
