GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democrat hopeful Hillary Clinton are the two candidates Nevada casino workers most want as their next president.
The American Gaming Association recently queried Nevada casino workers for their presidential preferences, and they cited Clinton and Trump as the two candidates who best understand the gaming industry and its impact on Nevada residents and casino workers.
Nearly 40 states have legalized gambling operations within their borders, and Nevada casino workers say Clinton and Trump are most likely to enable the Nevada and national gaming markets to continue flourishing.
About 40 percent of survey respondents in Nevada said they would not vote for a candidate who posed a threat to the gaming industry, but 80 percent said they would vote for a candidate who openly supports and promotes gaming in Nevada and elsewhere.
While Nevada casino workers understandably say gaming is very important to them, the candidates also indicate gaming is an important factor in the upcoming presidential election.
Candidates have mentioned casino gaming many times while politicking, and especially while in Nevada and New Jersey. And the MGM Grand in Las Vegas plans to host all three candidates for the Democrat nomination during a special dinner hosted by Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on January 6.
The dinner is scheduled about six weeks before the Democratic caucus in Nevada, and Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O’Malley are expected to attend.
